Why can’t I Download Diamond Digger Saga from Google Play or iTunes, and Play it on My Android Tablet or Phone, or on my iPad or iPhone?
If you’ve gone to the Google Play store or iTunes looking for the new Facebook game from King, Diamond Digger Saga, you’ve probably realized you can’t find it there. The short answer to why you can’t play Diamond Digger Saga on Android or iPad is because King hasn’t released a mobile app for the game yet. This is normal for their new releases as they usually release their games on Facebook first.
No one knows for sure why King waits to release their games for Android and iPad, but in a way it makes sense to get the games functioning exactly how they want them to before they release them to mobile platforms. Each time they release a new game worldwide on Facebook players begin to demand an iPad or Android version so we don’t think it’s likely that they are unaware that people want to play their games that way. Instead there are probably a lot of technical, and business related reasons why they wait to offer mobile apps, and we can only speculate as to what they are.
We give King credit for being pretty smart when it comes to running a business, and feel confident that there is a reason they wait to release their games for Android, and iPad. For example Farm Heroes Saga is the last mobile app they put in the app stores, and that game at the time of writing this article is the second most popular game in the world. They promote the game heavily through TV advertisements, and perhaps they just don’t want all of their titles competing against each other at the same time. Also, if you’ve paid attention, you’ve noticed that they tweak the levels a lot in the early months while the game is being played on Facebook. This could be part of the overall process of making sure each game is completely ready for release to a much larger audience.
One thing is for certain, King knows you want to play Diamond Digger Saga and all off its games on your Android tablet and phone, or on your iPad or iPhone. They will eventually release the Diamond Digger Saga mobile app, but no one knows for sure exactly when. Historically their other releases have taken around 8 or 9 months to make it to mobile, and we imagine Diamond Digger will be the same.
What do I do if I don’t Want to Wait 8 or 9 Months to play Diamond Digger Saga on Android or iPad?
If you are familiar with our first site Pepper Panic Tips you probably used our guide on how to play flash games like Pepper Panic Saga on your Android or iPad. In fact we’ve been able to use a cloud based browser like Puffin or Photon to play all of King’s most recent releases like Farm Heroes Saga, and Papa Pear Saga on Android and iPad devices before the official mobile app was released.
One of the first things we did when we found out that Diamond Digger Saga had been released was to load Photon on our Android phone, and try to play the game. Unfortunately we found out that it is somehow different from King’s other recent releases, and that the game won’t load on mobile devices. Since we had recently played Diamond Digger on King.com to get our 50 free gold bars we even tried to log in there to see if we might be able to load it that way. In all our tests we’ve found that there isn’t any way to play Diamond Digger Saga on Android or as far as we know iPad, and that we will all have to wait to download it from the Google Play store or iTunes when the mobile app is officially released.
To quickly explain how Diamond Digger Saga is different from the past King releases it appears to require a newer version of Flash. Android stopped supporting Flash a while back, and at that point Adobe stopped making new versions of it for Android devices. In the past you could play the other games because they worked with archived versions of Flash but Diamond Digger Saga does not.
We checked into it and we’re sure that there is no version of Flash 11.5.0 or higher available for Android, and from what we can tell the game doesn’t work on iPad either. We have heard from one person that they were able to load it on King.com through Photon and Puffin, but we aren’t able to test to find out for sure. We will definitely try to find out more about it and update this article if it is a reliable way to play Diamond Digger Saga on iPad. If you have any luck with this method be sure to let us know so that we can pass it on to other players.
We know this is pretty disappointing news, and we wish we could find a solution. Unfortunately we haven’t been able to find one, and believe us when we say that we’ve been looking. If you have any tips or hints on how to get around this problem we’d love to hear about it.
One positive note is that we may see the release of the Pepper Panic Saga official mobile app available in Google Play and iTunes soon. The Papa Pear Saga and Farm Heroes Saga mobile apps were released shortly after Pepper Panic came out on Facebook so this may be something to look forward to. Pepper Panic Saga is our favorite King game so we have anxiously anticipating its release for Android and iPad.
