How to Play Diamond Digger Saga – Diamonds, Ground Blocks, and Water
Diamonds are matched in a collapsing style rather than swipe style of match-3 that players of Candy Crush, and Pepper Panic Saga are used to. You can match 3 or more diamonds that are touching by clicking on them which will remove them from the board. If there are ground blocks below you will receive points for removing them. The collapse style takes some getting used to because the gravity is a little more important. Since you can’t swipe diamonds if they fall to the bottom in a way that they can’t be matched they will be stuck there. But, you do you have a recharging booster called the color burst, that you can use to clear all the diamonds of one color off of the board. By matching large number of diamonds at one time you can recharge the color burst faster.
Each board in a Diamond Digger level starts out covered with diamonds of different colors. Underneath them there are ground blocks which block water from moving freely through the room. Most rooms have an entrance and an exit, and you can match diamonds of the same color to remove the ground blocks and lead the water to the exit. Most levels have more than one room which you can access by guiding the water to the door.
How to Play Diamond Digger Saga – Levels, Rooms, and Level Requirements
Each level in Diamond Digger has different requirements to complete, and some levels have multiple rooms you have to move through. Currently there are four different level types in the game which include:
- Score Levels – These have a target score which you have to achieve by clearing ground blocks by matching diamonds, and by uncovering treasures. You can increase your score by clearing large groups of ground blocks at the same time, and getting the water through the board quickly to open new rooms. If you can get through enough boards you might end up in a treasure room. Treasure rooms are rooms that are filled with water where some of the diamonds combine together to create one large diamond. Each large diamond you click on is worth 2000 points so these rooms can help you reach your points goals in a hurry if you can get to them.
- Toys Levels – Toys are hidden under special green tiles throughout a room. When you clear diamonds that are sitting on these tiles you uncover the toys which count towards your total. You have to collect a specific number of toys on each level, and the game will alert you if you need to collect more tiles in the room you are in before moving on. If you fail to collect enough toys in the room before you guide the water to the exit the level will be over regardless of how many moves you have left.
- Fireflies Levels – On these levels there will be sleeping fireflies located in different places around the board. To collect them you have to clear a path to lead the water to where they are, and when it gets there it will wake them up. Each firefly level in Diamond Digger Saga has a specific number of fireflies you have to collect, and like the toys, the game will alert you if you need to wake them all up inside a room before moving on. If you lead the water to the exit without clearing a path to a required firefly the level will end regardless of how many moves you have left.
- Totem Levels – Totems start to show up after level 70. In these levels you have to drop a statue called a totem down on the board to let it fall onto its base. Often when you get it all the way down a lock will open up so that you can pass to the next room. Totems levels can be some of the most frustrating as it can be difficult to make matches below them as they move down.
